Our Story

For many years, I’ve dabbled in making my own lotions and potions from face creams, toners, sunscreens and serums.   What started as curiosity slowly became a passion. I made them for myself first, then for family and friends. Over the years, people would tell me how much they loved my concoctions and many times I thought, “Maybe someday I should turn this into something real,” but just never took the leap.  It was my middle son Isaac who believed in my products and was the one who truly pushed me and helped me to dream a little bigger. Because of my love for dragonflies and everything natural, Isaac was the one who came up with the name Monyi Skincare—inspired by the Meganeura Monyi, an extinct genus of giant dragonfly-like insects. Dragonflies symbolize transformation, resilience, and light, and the name stuck with us for years. We even purchased the website name years before there was ever a product.

Then one day, Isaac said he really believed I should start selling my skincare products and wanted to help me launch a skincare product -home business, and he told me to start thinking about what I would want the product to be. I knew immediately what I wanted to create.

I wanted one clean, minimal product for all skin types with powerful ingredients that are pronounced and beneficial to the skin.  One cream that combines the “big players” you usually have to buy in three or four separate serums.  I wanted the best ingredients chosen with purpose, not marketing.

It took two years of researching ingredients, effective percentages, ingredient compatibility, natural emulsification, perfecting texture, and reformulating again and again. My promise to myself was this: If an ingredient didn’t truly benefit your skin, it didn’t belong in the jar.
